Aspen Properties announces partnership with Zone Startups Calgary

Aspen Properties (“Aspen”) together with Zone Startups Calgary (“ZSC”) are
pleased to announce a partnership to collaborate and support early-stage property technology companies with technical and commercial validation through Aspen and ZSC’s program offerings.

Zone Startups Calgary is an accelerator for pilot-ready technology startups with strong teams and a vision to become fast-growing market leaders. ZSC is operated by DMZ Ventures (formerly Ryerson Futures Inc.) a Toronto-based global accelerator program. In 2016, it created Zone Startups Calgary in a partnership with GE Canada, Baker Hughes, TELUS and UFA to accelerate the commercialization of innovative digital technology companies within the energy, 5G, transportation, agricultural and property sectors. In addition to Calgary, Zone Startups programs are present on a global stage with operations in Toronto, India, and Vietnam, having worked with a number of partners, including Barclays, Bombay Stock Exchange, Shell, RBC, Rogers Communications and TD Bank.

“Zone Startups Calgary is a great fit for Aspen,” says Rob Blackwell, Chief Operating Officer, Aspen. “PropTech is becoming increasingly important for real estate owners to embrace to advance the service and the operational needs of a building. ZSC provides us with access to the leading edge of PropTech and not only work with the entrepreneurs and inventors on the needs, but also the ability to trial these technologies in our assets. ZSC’s mandate and commitment to supporting the development of early-stage companies strongly aligns with Aspen’s innovation strategy and our core purpose of serving its tenants with value-add propositions and solutions.”

Joe Martini, Director of Zone Startups Calgary, comments that “Aspen has demonstrated their commitment to innovation through their direct engagement with a number of technology companies and the Aspen/Zone collaboration will facilitate scaling this connectivity to deliver solutions that will make a meaningful impact on Aspen operations.”

“ZSC looks forward to collaborating with Aspen to source and curate technology companies that address Aspen’s innovation challenges as well as providing property technology companies with access to market, commercialization programming, and support,” says Martini. “The Aspen/Zone Startups collaboration will make a meaningful impact on the PropTech community and lay a foundation for expedited technology commercialization.”
